Step
1: You
will need to Log-in to post items
From the
main page click the link Members
Blog and then click Log-in under the
Registered Users section. (see circled items on the two screen shots
below).

Enter
your username
and password
at the WordPress sign-on screen
You should then see the following
screen

Step 2 Changing your passwordOnce
you've signed in, you can click the Profile link on the left which will
bring you to the following screen. Scroll to the bottom and you will
see a section where you can change your password (if you'd like).

Step 3 Submitting your first post
Click
the Post link on the
left side of the Dashboard and then click Add
New you will then see the following screen.

The
key items in the above image are
- Text box
at the top where you put a title for your post
- Main box
where you type your message
- Categories section in the lower left of
the above image (this
is the most import item to remember)
- Publish
button on the left, once you are done editing your post click this to
make it 'live'
You will also notice there is
a Visual and an HTML
tab. The visual tab will allow you to work like you would in a normal
word processor, where as the HTML tab will allow you to enter HTML code
(i.e., if you need to create a table).
I will cover the
buttons above the text boxes and to the left of the Visual and HTML
tabs a little later. If you have followed along so far you should be
able to post an entry that consists entirely of text. If you put a
checkbox by your name in the Categories section your post should show
up when you click your name on the main Members Blog page and shouldn't show up on the main entry
page.
When
you are in the admin panel creating or editing a post you will see
there is a visit site link at the top of the page. After you Publish
your post this is the easiest way to get back to the Members Blog site
(see image below).
Step 4 Categories Explained
When you are posting an
item you ALWAYS need to remember to place a check in the box next to
your name in the categories section of the Add New Post area. This is
how we are seperating users posts. Every user who posts and item or
items and has selected the appropriate category will have a link on the
right side of the Members Blob page. If you forget to select the
correct category your post will show up on the main page, which is
where all uncatigorized posts default to. Don't worry if this happens,
it's easy to fix. Also don't worry about breaking the site, though this
looks like the clubs site it really isn't.....YOU CAN"T BREAK THE MAIN
SITE SO DON'T WORRY.
See
if you can post an item containing just text in 'your' category.
Once everyone can do this successfully I will put some details around
including other types of media (PICTURES).
